Wyvern dragon diorama WIP by AntWatkins Wyvern dragon diorama WIP by AntWatkins
I thought I would post an early WIP picture of one of the sculpts I have been working on. Although I did not include anything for scale reference in this pic, the ditance from it's collar bones to it's groin is 5" long.

I use aluminum wire for the armature of the dragon, and for the wing membrane I use aluminum wire form (wire mesh). 1/8" pattern works best for me (the pattern count is higher, smaller holes in the mesh). I cut the mesh to the size of the wing armature, then use a hot glue gun to attach it to the armature.

Your work is amazing, all the little details and the expression of the piece... couldn't be better. And looking at your WIP pieces gives me ideas of the process to experiment with (the mesh for the wings is a winner xD). Seing that you are one of the most talented I've seen around here, do you have some kind of tutorial or tips that a newbie could use?, like simple steps to begin with.
Thanks for showing your work!

Thanks! I usually keep to working on my own designs when I have the time, but I do like the Skyrim dragon, pretty cool design.

I can appreciate that :) I guess I just have a selfish desire to see you bring one of those dragons to life with your own creative spin and talent put on it :)

Aside from how fantastic this piece looks ive been trying to figure something out for quite some time that would support the thinness i needed for wings! Can't believe it was that simple! Awesome!

Looks great. The pose is incredibly dynamic.

BTW, any tips on where to get that mesh? I've checked local hardware and craft stores and I can't find it anywhere...
